an accident On Sunday, after extra classes, I decided to wander to the neighboring park to spend the remaining time recuperating. It was a gorgeous day, but I was startled that there was no one in the park. I was looking forward to getting some fresh air and exercising. While I was walking down the road to eat lunch, I heard a voice say "cheereessss." and I felt that the voice was slowly approaching towards me. Instantly I glanced toward the sound. I spotted a car approaching towards me rapidly. Suddenly, the vehicle smacked a nearby electric post, and a terrific boom resonated throughout the road.
Before
thinking about what transpired, I rushed to see what happened to the driver of
the vehicle and others. As I approached the car, I spotted the driver slumped
over the steering wheel lifeless. There was no one in the back of the vehicle,
and I knew that the driver may have been wounded or worse.
I was a little panicked. This was the first time such an occurrence happened to me. I promptly contacted 911 and ordered an ambulance, and I waited impatiently for it to arrive. I understood a person's life was in peril, and I had to do everything I could to aid. I tried to get the imprisoned driver out, but the door was barred, and I could not manage it alone. Finally, the ambulance arrived, and paramedics promptly inspected the situation. They opened the vehicle door and pulled the driver out of the car on a stretcher and carried him to the hospital as fast as possible. I went to the closest bench and sat down; I was shaking a little, and I started thinking about the accident. I could not grasp how the accident happened. Did the driver fall asleep? Were they captivated with their phone or anything else? I could not envision going. Meanwhile, the sound of the ambulance was getting softer and less powerful.
Nonetheless,
I prayed to God, hoping that the driver would recover. It was only after I had
a chance to ponder on that happened that I realized how lucky I was to be there. If I had not
abandoned the road at that time, the driver would have been left alone for an
extended period and died, who knows what would have transpired. That was an
accident that reminded me of the fragility of life and the need of being in the
present. Since then, I made a commitment to myself that I would always pay
attention to my environment and people and do my best to aid the poor. The
occurrence was a wake-up call, and I was happy for the lesson to cherish every
moment and be appreciative for the unique gift of understanding life.
